Our photos of Derren Lee Poole’s photography submission really do not do any justice to his work.
“When asked what type of photography I do, I often will just say gig photographer. It’s an easy description that most people will understand straight away and will get a measure of. Actually though, if you study my work more closely, you’ll notice I’m really portrait photographer, I just happen to take my portraits in a music performance environment rather than a studio.” (https://www.facebook.com/phunkography)

We’re loving these retro inspired poster designs from Kate Costigan.
Kate from Glasgow, graduated from Visual Communication (specialising in Illustration) at Glasgow School of Art in 2012.
“Most of my projects are inspired by a bygone era, particularly the 1940s and 50s. Infatuated with Old Hollywood, I embrace the tackiness of Americana, and exploring the theme of faded glamour allows me to live vicariously through my projects and be closer to this world which no longer exists. Whether I explore the theme of faded glamour through a person or a place, to me there is something fascinatingly tragic about a star on the wane, or a once bustling seaside resort which lies deserted and decaying.” (http://katecostigan.com/About-Me)

Jay Patel director of Shiiiva Design submitted stunning photographs and postcards
“Shiiiva’s identity was inspired by the Hindu God ‘Shiva’ known as ‘The Lord of all Creations’. The icon is well perceived for having a third eye which symbolises knowledge, concentration and imagination hence the three i’s in shiiiva; innovative inspirational ideas. In addition representing the creative eye of the designers themselves.
Much of the inspiration comes from travelling locally and around the world to incredible places such as India, New York, San Francisco and Bali to name a few. By exploring the diverse continents of Asia, America and Europe, the designer breeds from both traditional and contemporary surroundings which shows beautifully in his work” (https://www.facebook.com/pages/shiiiva/298604730157543?sk=info)
“Mark Doyle, an artist and illustrator working in Edinburgh. Since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art with a degree in painting he has explored a wide range of media from traditional printmaking techniques such as linocuts and screenprints to collage and digital processes.
Mark’s work often combines strong graphic elements with fluid lines and off-kilter compositions. His inspiration comes from subjects as diverse as Indian court paintings, German Expressionist woodcuts, Constructivism, and looking out the window.
In conjunction with his illustration work, Mark has also worked on large scale mural projects and produces limited editions of handmade prints from his Edinburgh studio.” (http://www.studiomonik.com)

Striking illustrations by designer and illustrator Thomas Anthony

Wonderful Illustrations from Stephen Langdon’s series “Brutality”

Stephen Caton, director of the design company Source Creative submitted four beautiful illustrations “He sent many illustrations into Tony Hart’s Gallery but none were ever broadcast. It still hurts now. He always thought he’d be designing graphics for computer games (when computer games were less than 48k in size!) and in 1988 went to Blackburn College and soon began to appreciate letter forms & typefaces (and the Apple Mac) – and then began his love affair with typography. He’s been running a successful design company Source Creative for the last 14 years” (Source Creative)
